Fall Workshop Recap

Fall Workshop Recapfeatured

If you missed the workshop last Saturday, here is the audio from our main session:

We looked at the big picture of the Bible story line, tracing the themes of light and darkness from Genesis to Revelation. (You can download the list of Bible references here.)

And then we looked at four implications of the truth that Jesus is the Light of the world, each presenting a unique problem, solution, and result.

If Jesus truly is the Light of the World, then we are to:

#1: Receive the Light

  • John 9, 1 Peter 2:9
  • Problem: Darkness in our hearts (unbelief)
  • Solution: Receive the light of Christ (faith)
  • Result: We can see! New identity

#2: Live as Children of Light

  • Ephesians 5
  • Problem: Remaining darkness, old habits (indwelling sin)
  • Solution: Live out new identities in Christ (Holy Spirit)
  • Result: Growth in Christlikeness

#3: Walk in the Light

  • 1 John 1-2
  • Problem: Fear of man (shame)
  • Solution: Fear of the Lord (courage)
  • Result: Loving Biblical Community

#4: Reflect the Light

  • Matthew 5:14-16
  • Problem: darkness in world (unbelief/blindness/no worship)
  • Solution: the Church (worship/love/mission)
  • Result: the light of Christ shines through His people as they grow in love and is the means He uses to draw people to Himself = more worship

There were also several excellent breakout sessions that we were unfortunately not able to record. We will hopefully be able to share that content, whether by offering the session again or via this blog. Thank you to all who participated!
